Waihi Central Choir is a strong part of our school culture and is open , by audition, to Y4-6 students. The choir practice every Friday morning and sing regularly at Celebration Assemblies with the Senior Singers. They also perform in the community whenever possible, at venues such as Hetherington House, Beach Hop and the Christmas Parade each year.
Central Choir 2012 have been learning lots of new songs and featuring each fortnight at Celebration assemblies. They performed at The Beach Hop Warmup Party in town in March and have a concert at school on the 26th June with Central students who learn recorder, guitar & ukulele with Mrs Tasma. The focus of Term 3 this year is our musical production "Serendipity", and choir members will all be involved in some way - either acting, singing, dancing or playing an instrument.
The Beach Hop warmup party comes to Waihi every year in March and it has become a Waihi Central School tradition that the choir sing at this event. Rock'n'Roll is alive and well at Central School!
On Tuesday 26th June 2012, Central School music students, taught by Wella Tasma, performed for students, staff and parents in an end of term concert. The choir and senior singers also took part in this celebration of our children's talent and enthusiasm for music! Well done everyone for giving us such an enjoyable afternoon.
Custom Glitter Text Waihi Central choir has almost 50 members this year! It is the biggest choir we have had in a long time - there are so many great singers here at Central School! Practices are Friday mornings at 10.00 am where children learn singing techniques and lots of cool songs to perform at assemblies and in the community. One of our first performances was at Mr Drewery's farewell - which made us all a bit sad - but we loved singing for Mr Drewery who always supported music so strongly in our school.
Custom Glitter Text The choir and senior singers were asked to perform for the Waihi Women's Group at the Memorial Hall on the 6th June this year. The programme was a mix of full choir songs and songs that the senior singers did on their own. We were very well received by the ladies group and our children did us proud as always!
